Election Update

Februrary 24, 2026

Important elections are coming up this year beginning in early May. Haralson County voters will have an opportunity to help decide outcomes that are of critical importance to our county, our state, and our nation. In our county elections, there are Board of Commissioners and School Board positions as well as a SPLOST renewal. In State elections we have to elect a new Governor and vote on State Senate and House members. In National elections we vote on US Senate and US House. There are Primary challengers this term in a number of key positions.

The Haralson County GOP is initiating a campaign to turn out the vote in record numbers. According to Lyndon Smith, Chairman of the Haralson County GOP, a voter turnout committee is now being formed with money being raised to fund the effort.

The turnout effort will include public interaction and engagement at festivals and events, radio and newspaper articles and advertisements, internet and social media, a billboard on US 27, and even some neighborhood door knocking. These efforts will be designed to inform voters and build interest and awareness about the issues and candidates.

The county GOP also plans to work with Church Pastors in a non-partisan effort to improve civic awareness and voter turnout among Christian voters. Not to persuade people to on how to vote, but simply to "vote your values."

According to Lyndon, Christian voters have been very under represented in past elections. This has been identified as a major opportunity for improvement.

In the next article we will provide more details about what will be on the May Primary Ballot along with key dates and events surrounding the election.
